Nothing ever goes exactly according to plan because the enemy, the competition, and other people have input during execution. Contingency planning is a necessary part of any plan-strategic or tactical. Without thinking through all the factors that can (and will) affect your plan, you have no plan. Sometimes only one part changes. Sometimes everything changes all at once. The more that is thought through before execution, the faster an organization will react and adapt.
